Advocacy and Policy
Jamii Aid Network strives to contribute to trans formative policy changes that can positively impact on
society to help address Health & Reproductive Healthcare, poverty, marginalization, and inclusivity in development. Even as we address the underlying causes of poverty and social injustice, we not only deal with the symptoms of poverty but intend to influence the governmental and institutional policies and practices that perpetuate poverty and social injustice. Achieving change in this area requires changes not only in policy but in the democratic space available for dialogue between governments and civil society, and the social norms
and practices that influence the extent to which policies can be implemented. Jamii Aid Network
recognizes that poverty and discrimination are influenced by decisions at the household level and by
decisions made within community leadership structures, all levels of government, national and
international organizations, the media, and powerful institutions. For social transformation to happen,
institutional changes alongside accountability and transparency need to take place.
